Here We Are!

Hi Friends,
Very sorry not to write more; I really did have a nice blog written yesterday but it disappeared in the ether. Then our service guy decided to do maintenance.... etc. I've got LOTS of excuses!

Actually, we continue to go with the bishop on his pastoral visits which are usually Thursday to Saturday, then Sunday we have at least two masses, Children's here where we live, then bishop's at the Cathedral, which is about 2 and a half hours, including greeting several hundred children at the Kiss of Peace, then blessing and praying with 50 to 100 folks that want his personal attention after mass. At that time we help direct traffic (this takes place in a large side chapel while the non-stop masses continue in the main church.)

This is also when the bishop or Dick may steer people needing more in-depth counseling my way. When all are attended, including the sneaky ones that wait back by the office where the bishop vests, we all head upstairs to the rector's well supplied dining room for a cheerful, funny lunch with the bishop and whoever else he invites, plus his regular team. Yesterday he invited the doctor who is head of Pastoral Care for Health in the diocese; World Day of the Sick.

I confess to getting a DRYER! When you live at the foot of the highest volcano in this continent, you live in a drippy cloud a lot of the time. The wash can only wait so long. It won't even dry inside the house, so I'm delighted to have a DRYER! It's on its first run right now. It's gas, electric is too expensive here.

Questions asked: "Do you ever get homesick?" Yes. "Do you miss your kids?" Yes.
"Are you sure this is what you should be doing at your age?" Yes. "Do you ever doubt God's Providence, wish for more security?" Yes, briefly from time to time. I don't entertain it, or try not to. See Isaiah 46:3,4.
