A Blessing for Ripped Off Flowers
We're having a little trouble here getting our minds around some major inconsistency in a few of the populace. Dick noticed, when lavishly splashing holy water around the cathedral at the Vigil Mass, many folks had their own buckets of water, with flowers floating in it, to receive the blessing and carry home. Nice custom, no?
Next day, Easter Sunday, when we gazed out where zillions of our roses should have been blooming for the honor and glory of God, we saw: NOTHING! Not a single bud or blossom left, and even one of the allium, the only blue one we had, gone. We hadn't connected this dastardly deed with the buckets of water, but when we told one of the women active in our parish here, she said, oh, people took them for the water blessing.
Umm, anyone else out there have any trouble with this picture?
