The bishop arrived for his Pastoral Visit at our own parish. He usually arrives about 15 minutes late; this time, when our very own deacon was to meet him at the public school and lead the procession back to the church, we were running just a tad late. And did the bishop also arrive late? NOPE! Not this time. Oh woe.

That was Thursday. Yesterday, during a short break between meeting with various parish associations, mayordomos etc. the bishop, the pastor, another priest in charge of pastoral care in the diocese, and the deacon, all disappeared into the pastor's study. Ah. Important Church business, right? It was pure coincidence that the World Cup was playing on the pastor's TV at the time. When they solemnly paraded back out, all that was missing was the canary's feathers.
