Corpus Cristi

Today - More Processions and fireworks! It is the feastday of Corpus Cristi. (Happy Saint's Day,son!) The church here has streamers with banners flying descending from the front peak of the building. Fireworks started last night. Some people have the day off and the boom boxes are cranking up. Dick has Mass at 3:00 pm in a branch chapel of our parish, then I will come back home and he will lead the procession through the streets of that suburb. Everyone will have their houses, gates, gardens decorated and festive for the celebration. The priest has another mass here at 5:00 pm, and then another procession through the streets of our area, Barrio Nuevo.

This day makes me remember that in spring of 1959, before son #2 was born, we were interviewing to be accepted in the only association we could find that trained and sent married lay people to missions in those days. Big brother was 3 at the time. Here we are, 46 years later, still at it. We may not always be persistent or persevering, but the Lord is! Happy Celebration, folks.
