Our Beautiful Volcano: Orizaba

This is the long-awaited picture of our lovely volcano. The bish tells us "Orizaba" is a reconstruction of the original Indian name which meant "Joyful Waters". I think of the vast mountain as feminine, since it seems to change its aspect and even its location frequently and occasionally completely disappears. You're driving along and its on your right, regal and beautiful, a little farther up (or down) the road, and she's straight ahead or even on the other side. Time goes by, the fog moves in, and she is GONE! No sign of her anywhere. Next sighting probablly early morning when it's more likely to be clear.

The second picture was taken during a pastoral visit to a village parish. This little shrine was the first stop where we were met with firecrackers to announce the bishop's arrival to near and far, and little girls strewing flower petals. Our little parade of two Jeeps was led into town by three men on horseback. Stay tuned. More pictures coming. How about a comment or two from the READERS?
