Safely Home from El Norte
Hello old friends
We just got to our little yellow house in the Barrio this afternoon, having left Boston yesterday morning at 8 am. It's been a long trip, with overnight in Mexico City to rest up for the 4 hour bus trip, the last leg. We knew we wouldn't get much sleep tonight: the parish fiesta is in full swing, and the carnival rides all set up in the street. The Music Lovers in back are already celebrating.
The neighbors came right over with warm welcomes, and asked: Are you going to preach at Mass tonight? I guess the Deacon is having an impact here. Of course he went to get his missal and study up on the readings for tonight.
He also came back in a cloud of glory having finished all the course work for his Master's Degree in Pastoral Ministry. Now there just remains the Final Project, which we'll be filling you in on as we go. It involves getting local lay preachers (and their wives) together and teaching how to have a Spirit-filled ministry in harmony with the Church and maintain a solid family life at the same time. Diploma should be awarded Dec. 1, just in time for our 50th wedding anniversary!
