A Missionary's Busy Social Life

Well, it's been a busy time this weekend. Friday night we were given free tickets to a professional presentation of Godspell. I guess this is old hat in the US, but we had never seen it. We loved it! It was beautifully rehearsed, the choreography marvelous, the set simple and very creative. The person playing Jesus managed to be taller and more impressive than any of the other characters, and also portrayed the magnanimity and peaceful qualities, together with great humanness. A real treat for theater bugs like us.

Then Saturday night we were invited by a friend from the Senior Center to Mass, Benediction and fancy supper for her 60th birthday. Her 5 married children and 7 grandchildren and other friends and relatives were also there. All the family members were in long dresses or tuxes. Even the 4 year old grandson! He and his little sister were a big hit as they maneuvered around the dance floor like a couple of veteran dancers. It was interesting, and fun, but a full dinner at 10 pm is a bit overwhelming for us nowadays.

Missionary life isn't ALL hairshirt!
