A Busy Day!

Well, it started out as a lazy, rainy, sleep-in day, until Dick remembered he was supposed to be at the diocesan offices for a morning of ministry, discernment and prayer with the exorcism team. Out of bed! Into clothes! Gone for the morning.

I putter around until time to get ready for Mass at noon, in honor of the 90 year old grandmother of the heads of lay ministry here. After Mass, off to the fiesta, at a nice hotel near our house. It was beautifully planned by another grandson. A six course meal, professional waiters, and wonderful ceremony. Each of her children brought her a red rose and a hug, then each grandchild brought her a two colored rose, (there must have been about 13 of them), then each of the great-grandchildren brought her a white rose. She stood and received all this with affection and dignity.

After the meal, the musicians struck up a traditional waltz used for the quinceneras at their big coming out parties. This was for a lady 6 X 15! All the men insisted on dancing with the lady, including Dick.

We left only reluctantly when the electronic music reached deafening and the cigars came out. We got home in time for a cup of coffee before my appointment arrived for counseling. Please, if I reach 90, party and roses and good food are fine, but NO electronic, amplified music. Unless I'm stone deaf by then!
