Today's Procession

The pastor's been gone all week on clergy retreat, but parish life goes on. Tonight there is a solemn procession in the streets of our barrio, led by 3 acolytes in white robes and purple sashes. About 30 people, all kinds and ages follow along. Wherever there are white and purple ribbons or balloons adorning the front of a home or business, they stop and pray one of the Stations of the Cross. Happily one of the stations is right next to our Music Lovers in back, also known as The Party Boys.

This is very real, deep and long standing devotion and shows how faith can be woven into the everyday fabric of life. All this and hot, sweaty weather and danger of the wild south wind rising.
